What Really Happened Today?

Many Congressional leaders strongly objected—after they and their staffs were secured by the Capitol Police—to the intrusion of the Capitol building and complex and, specifically, against the violence done to law enforcement officers. Words such as “free speech”, “protest”, “protesters, “riot”, and “rioters” were used to describe the actions taken by the crowd.

Bah.

What happened was nothing less than an attempted insurrection against the Constitution and our government.

Insurrection-Congress

Who’s Responsible?

“Save America” Rally

During the rally held on the Ellipse, President Trump repeated his lies concerning his electoral loss from the November national election, exhorting the crowd of 10,500:

“We will not let them silence your voices…We will stop the steal.”

President Trump further tweeted this to his supporters:

“Washington is being inundated with people who don’t want to see an election victory stolen by emboldened Radical Left Democrats. Our Country has had enough, they won’t take it anymore! We hear you (and love you) from the Oval Office.”

Imagine a rally to Save America merely because 81,283,074 U.S. citizens voted for the Democratic Party nominee for President. Well, the ground was set.

You May Not Believe This…

Some, including some Congressional “leaders”, claim that the media is responsible for the insurrection.

According to these idiots, the media at least shares responsibility because the media has reported President Trump’s repeated lies about the results of the 2020 Presidential election and his exhortations to his supporters.

Yeah, if only none of us knew any of that, nothing would have happened.

Had the media not reported any news of the 2020 Election:

  • No voter would have cast a vote for any Democrat.
  • No state would have certified the votes of their citizens in the 2020 Presidential election.
  • No Democratic slate of electors would have been elected by the citizens of any state.
  • The elected Electors from each state would not have voted for Democratic Party candidates for President and Vice President.
  • The Congress would not have met to certify the result of the Electors selection as required by Article 2 and the 12th and 22nd Amendments.

Yup. We believe that. Fer shure.

25th Amendment Solution

The National Association of Manufacturers addressed their concerns about the attempted insurrection and how this affects business and our economy in this press release today:

“Armed violent protestors who support the baseless claim by outgoing president Trump that he somehow won an election that he overwhelmingly lost have stormed the U.S. Capitol today, attacking police officers and first responders, because Trump refused to accept defeat in a free and fair election. Throughout this whole disgusting episode, Trump has been cheered on by members of his own party, adding fuel to the distrust that has enflamed violent anger. This is not law and order. This is chaos. It is mob rule. It is dangerous. This is sedition and should be treated as such. The outgoing president incited violence in an attempt to retain power, and any elected leader defending him is violating their oath to the Constitution and rejecting democracy in favor of anarchy. Anyone indulging conspiracy theories to raise campaign dollars is complicit. Vice President Pence, who was evacuated from the Capitol, should seriously consider working with the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to preserve democracy.

“This is not the vision of America that manufacturers believe in and work so hard to defend. Across America today, millions of manufacturing workers are helping our nation fight the deadly pandemic that has already taken hundreds of thousands of lives. We are trying to rebuild an economy and save and rebuild lives. But none of that will matter if our leaders refuse to fend off this attack on America and our democracy—because our very system of government, which underpins our very way of life, will crumble.”

National Association of Manufacturers (January 6, 2021)

More to come…probably.
